Summertime at Johnny Putt Farm
Ah remember pre-COVID when you could see people smile and microgreen samples were available? Well protocols have changed but the greens remain the same. Now serving robust flavored greens with microgreens and whatever else happens to be growing at the farm packaged in Stay Fresh clear bags. I'll be at Springdell every Saturday from 9-2 doling out the greens. Self serve available every day at Springdell Farm 571 Great Road Littleton MA.
Hot and dry not lettuce weather at all. But kale, arugula and chard are more forgiving
This is where the cut and come again greens originate. Light fabric keeps the bugs out .. or in depending on when you put it on.
Delicate lettuce not happy with heat. Thick leaf lettuces like romaine do better but everybody grows those
Trying to grow early spinach indoors. Experimenting is fun but spinach wants to be with its friends outside.
Three week old lettuce awaiting space in the growing channels or outdoors if weather permits.
Intense flavor of microgreens adds a little "pop" to your salad. Find these as a prize in the JPF greens bag.
Sustainable earth battery will store excess heat during the day and release it at night. Symbiotic relationship between fish and plants eliminates need for fertilizer. Yeah, that prize rock came out of the utility trench. Welcome to New England.

The stone den as described is generally in the area of this property and serves as a reminder of the pitfalls of poor research and sloppy execution.
